The creators of Bugsnax have not yet decided on plans for the game, but they are not going to abandon it

Young Horses creative director Kevin Zuhn in an interview with Kotaku talked about the studio’s plans for the “edible” Bugsnax adventure and unrealized ideas in the game.

When asked by a Kotaku journalist about a potential sequel or expansion to Bugsnax, the developer replied that Young Horses has not yet decided on the post-release plans for the game.

“We’re still figuring out what we want to do after the release, but we’re definitely not finishing work on Bugsnax yet. I know I would really not want to leave the plot in limbo forever, ” Zun shared.

Bugsnax takes place on Yummy Island. The main character, a journalist who arrived at the scene at the invitation of Elizabeth Megafig, takes on the task of finding the researcher and the residents of Khrumburg who have disappeared with her.

Bugsnax’s ending isn’t fun or upbeat ( there won’t be any spoilers ), but according to Zoon, the development team initially had much darker ideas.

In particular, by the end of the storyline campaign, the aforementioned inhabitants of Hamburg were planned to be turned into natural zombies and sent to devour first each other, and then the protagonist.

Bugsnax was released on November 12, 2020, on PC (Epic Games Store), PlayStation 4, and PlayStation 5. Journalists did not receive the game too warmly: on Metacritic, the project has from 72 to 79%, depending on the target platform.
