The first changes to the Windows 10 user interface became available in test builds

Microsoft’s plans to change the appearance of Windows 10 have been known for a long time. Now, online sources say that the first updated elements of the user interface of the software platform appeared in test builds of Windows 10, which are available as part of the Microsoft Insider Program. The rounded corners of the windows and the so-called “floating” design of the interface elements are the most notable visual innovations.

The rounded corner window design will refresh the look and feel of the interface and make it more modern. When it comes to floating design, we are talking about some of the elements with which users interact. For example, the Start menu is visually separated from the taskbar, so it appears as if it is “hovering” above it.

Until recently, only conceptual renders have appeared on the Internet, demonstrating what the new Start menu might look like. Now, something similar has appeared in the official test builds of Windows 10, which confirms Microsoft’s intention to use a “floating” design. This feature is currently experimental and requires certain steps to be performed.

These and other changes will become publicly available with Windows 10 21H2 (Sun Valley) due to launch this fall. It is assumed that the work on the update will be completed in May, after which participants will actively test it in the Microsoft Insider Program.
