The head of Chechnya, Ramzan Kadyrov, in his Telegram channel announced that the first Chechen satellite, created on the platform of the South-Western State University (SWSU), was launched into earth orbit.

“Friends, a very significant and long-awaited event for the Chechen Republic took place today! The Soyuz 2.1 B launch vehicle with the Akhmat-1 satellite on board was launched from the Vostochny cosmodrome. I want to emphasize that this is our first satellite that entered the Earth’s orbit,” Ramzan Kadyrov wrote.

In October 2022, the Chechen State University (ChGU) team received a grant to develop a satellite that became an automatic dependent surveillance-broadcast module. The satellite will perform the work of collecting information on the location of aircraft.

Now work is underway to create a Mission Control Center based on the ChGU, which will allow receiving data from satellites directly.
