In the Ferrari 296 Challenge 2024, engineers abandoned the hybrid powertrain

As emissions regulations tighten in many parts of the world, it is becoming increasingly difficult for automakers to bring powerful vehicles powered solely by internal combustion engines to market. Even Ferrari has to electrify its cars, which are intended for public roads. The hybrid 296 GTB and the convertible 296 GTS followed this path.

Now, the manufacturer has released the 2024 Ferrari 296 Challenge, powered by a pure V6 engine without any hybrid assistance. This car cannot be used on public roads, it will compete in the Ferrari Challenge Trofeo Pirelli and will replace the 488 Challenge Evo.

The 2024 Ferrari 296 Challenge is powered by a 3.0-liter twin-turbocharged engine that lacks the hybrid component, like the 296 GT3 launched for the 2023 season. Without following the strict rules required for road cars, engineers increased the V6’s power to 690 hp. and 740 Nm of torque.
