About 700 different sensors are integrated into Racer

Airbus Helicopters is on course for the first flight of the Racer high-speed helicopter demonstrator before the end of this year. The company said it has already completed endurance testing of the gearbox. Next will be fatigue testing of the components, as well as oil leak testing. This, by the way, is one of the critical tests, without which it is impossible to obtain permission to fly.

The first flight of the machine will take place before the end of the year.

In parallel with the tests, the demonstrator is being assembled: for example, about seven hundred different sensors should be integrated into the Racer.

In June of this year, during the Paris Air Show, Tomasz Krysinski, head of research and innovation at Airbus Helicopters, said that the Racer will take to the skies in November of this year.

The Racer is being developed as part of a project funded by the EU under the Clean Sky 2 program. Its cruising speed will be 407 km/h. Such a high speed for a helicopter will be due not only to a powerful engine but also to a special aerodynamic shape and lightweight materials.
