Apple will release a 12.9-inch iPad Pro with a Mini-LED display in early 2021, according to new figures from DigiTimes. But MacBooks with such a matrix will have to wait until the second half of next year.

According to the source, Epistar will supply LEDs for iPad Pro Mini-LED displays in the near future. It is reported that over 10,000 LEDs will be used in each tablet. There, Apple is expected to bring in another LED supplier, Osram Opto. The LEDs from this company will be used in the MacBook, while the Epistar products will go exclusively to the iPad. This is consistent with the supply chain information previously published by reputable analyst Ming-Chi Kuo. He has already predicted that the iPad Pro will be the first Apple product with a Mini-LED display, and Epistar will begin shipping LEDs in the third quarter of this year.

Kuo also speculated that Apple could release a 16-inch MacBook Pro with a Mini-LED display later this year, but this information contradicts DigiTimes. According to Taiwanese market research firm TrendForce, Apple suppliers will start competing for orders for 14- and 16-inch MacBook Pros with Mini-LED screens through early 2021.
