The first space car – Tesla Roadster with a Starman dummy – got as close as possible to Mars

Among other things, Falcon Heavy sent a Tesla Roadster with a Starman dummy on a space journey. He must reach Mars, and it happened. According to the company, yesterday the object approached the Red Planet as close as possible, flying 8 million kilometers from it. This is very small by cosmic standards, although even by them it cannot be said that it was very close. For comparison, two days before that, Mars passed at the nearest distance from Earth in 15 years, 62.1 million km.

In addition, in almost three years, a Tesla car with a dummy covered more than 2 billion km in space. But this is a trifle compared to how much they have to overcome it. According to scientists, in the next million years, this pair is unlikely to go astray, and ultimately they will collide with either Earth or Venus.
