The Game Awards site was hacked after The Last of Us Part II began to lead in user voting

Some time ago, on the website of The Game Awards ceremony, a vote for the best game of 2020 according to users was opened. When the third round came, five out of thirty projects remained, and The Last of Us Part II broke into the leaders, although earlier the first place was held by Ghost of Tsushima. This, apparently, did not like some hackers who hacked the TGA site.

Yesterday, on December 6, it was impossible to pass authorization on the portal of the award ceremony. And on the page where users choose the game of the year, a strange picture was observed: Ghost of Tsushima had 100% of the votes, although before that it had 33%, and The Last of Us Part II – 41%.

It is possible that the hackers’ decision to hack into The Game Awards website was influenced by the publication of Naughty Dog President and TLoU II Development Lead Neil Druckmann. On a personal microblog, he reacted to the leadership of The Last of Us Part II and wrote: “TLoU fans, get active. And as a bonus, every vote for TLoU II deprives haters of the ability to use Caps Lock on the Web .

At the moment, the normal operation of the TGA portal has resumed, but The Last of Us Part II is no longer in the lead. Ghost of Tsushima came out on top with 40% of the vote. Less than a day is left until the end of the third round.
