“The Game Shows Our Philosophy”: CDPR Didn’t Change Cyberpunk 2077 Influenced by Black Lives Matter

In a recent interview with Polish portal Spider’s Web, Cyberpunk 2077 Lead Mission Designer Pawel Sasko discussed how the Black Lives Matter movement has impacted the game. According to the developer, CD Projekt RED did not make changes to the project after recent protests in the United States but realized its own philosophy and vision.

When asked about BLM, Pavel Sasko replied: “ It is important to note that at the current stage we have an almost finished game, and it has been in this status for a long time. This is the last stage of development, in which we do not change anything in the plot – we do not cut or add. Black Lives Matter, as you can see, happened very recently. ”

“ For us, Cyberpunk and The Witcher are games that show the philosophy of CD Projekt RED,” continued Pavel Sasko. – The project we are developing now is mostly entertainment. However, for the team of creators, this is also an art – creativity, demonstrating our vision. It’s hard for me to imagine what events should happen so that we suddenly begin to make corrections and stop touching [in the narrative] specific topics. ”

In the conversation, the leading task designer also noted that people of different life, political and religious views work in CD Projekt RED. Therefore, in the upcoming creation of the studio, many topics will be raised and shades of judgments of the creators will be present.
