The head of the Cyberpunk 2077 development studio denies the information about the fake demo of 2018 and not only

The head of CD Projekt, Adam Badowski, in his microblog commented on some points of Jason Schreier’s recent investigation into the development of Cyberpunk 2077.

Recall that Schreier, citing 20 current and former employees of CD Projekt, told how the uncontrollable ambitions of the studio’s management led to the troubled launch of the long-suffering action role-playing movie.

In particular, the journalist stated that the 48-minute gameplay excerpt from Cyberpunk 2077, published in the summer of 2018, was almost completely fake. Badovsky, to put it mildly, did not agree with the statement.

“Just because a game demo for a trade show is a vision test or vertical slice two years before release doesn’t mean it’s fake,” Badovsky said.

According to the head of CD Projekt, in its current form, the segment shown is indeed different from the version of the 2018 sample, but “it looks and plays much better than the demo ever .

Badovsky also refuted Schreier’s statement about ambushes by cars: they are present in the final game, and “practically in the same form” that the studio showed in 2018.

In terms of clipping content in general, Badowski called it a natural part of the development process: “Features come and go as we see if they work as expected or not

Badovskiy also drew attention to the statement by Schreier in summarizing article tweet: “Most employees know CD Projekt RED and openly said that [Cyberpunk 2077] will not be ready for release in 2020”.

“You talked to 20 people (partly ex-employees), only one of whom was not anonymous. I would not say that “most” of the more than 500 people in our studio openly spoke about what you are claiming, ”Badovsky said.

Schreier emphasized that in his answer Badovsky bypassed the “cruel processing and unrealistic deadlines” described in the material, and expressed his readiness to talk with the head of CD Projekt on these topics “at any time

After three transfers, Cyberpunk 2077 still made it to release, but it turned out to be full of bugs and almost unplayable on PS4 and Xbox One. The developers, however, are not discouraged and promise to fix everything.
