The attackers offer to vote for a child’s drawing in a public channel. They put pressure on the feeling of pity and love for children. According to the scammers, winning the competition will help the child get a ticket to the children’s camp.

To vote, you need to follow the link in the message. However, in reality, a person does not end up on a voting page, but on a phishing resource that masquerades as an authorization page in Telegram. On it, a person is asked to enter a phone number and a confirmation code – these are the data that attackers need to steal an account.

Attackers can then use the gained access to accounts for various purposes, including stealing confidential data, blackmailing and sending fraudulent messages.

The specialists also note that, in general, the number of attempts by Russian users to switch to phishing resources masquerading as Telegram, after a short decline in February 2023, began to grow sharply again in May. In the second quarter, this figure increased by almost 39% compared to the first.
