Luna-25 is one of the stages of a long-term Russian program aimed at studying and colonizing a natural satellite of our planet. The device will head to the south pole of the moon: the planned landing in this circumpolar region will be carried out for the first time in the world.

According to Mr. Kazmerchuk, ground experimental development of the product is now underway. After completing the necessary checks, tests of the flight model will begin, which will subsequently be sent to the Vostochny cosmodrome to prepare for launch – this will happen in August next year. Actually, the start is tentatively scheduled for October 1, 2021.

“ The launch will be carried out from the Vostochny cosmodrome by a Soyuz 2.1b carrier rocket with our Fregat upper stage, which will put the station on a flight path to the Moon. The flight according to the standard program will range from 4.5 to 5.5 days, depending on the specific launch date. During the flight, two corrections will be made with the help of the propulsion system of the station, and after working out the braking impulse Luna-25 will enter the lunar polar orbit , ”said Pavel Kazmerchuk.

The station will include eight cameras and nine scientific instruments, including a special manipulator complex, which will ensure the sampling of soil rocks and their subsequent analysis on board the vehicle.
