The beta version of the player for iOS and Android is already being tested in closed mode

The Llama Group company announced in its official Twitter account the start of closed testing of the Winamp audio player for Android and iOS operating systems. Beta testers can share their experiences on the Discord channel. Winamp was a very popular PC music player in the late 1990s and early 2000s, and an attempt to adapt it to smartphones has already been made: the Android app was released in late 2010, but was removed from Google Play some time later.

The legendary Winamp will appear on smartphones

One of the features of the updated Winamp will be access to the streaming music service Fanzone, which was launched this spring. The Fanzone platform allows artists to interact directly with fans and offer them subscriptions to their songs. Fans can pay $1 per month to subscribe to each of their favorite artists, and artists can also post on their page like they do on social media.

In addition, Winamp for smartphones will be able to find all the music on the owner’s mobile device and make playlists from it; local tracks can be mixed with the music of artists from subscriptions. According to the Llama Group, the goal of the “reboot” of Winamp is to increase the number of users of the legendary audio player to 250 million.
