The market for computers and tablets will grow in 2020, but further forecast is negative

The International Data Corporation (IDC) has released a fresh forecast for the global Personal Computing Devices (PCD) market. The industry is going through quite difficult times due to the pandemic and the unstable economic situation.

IDC’s data covers shipments of traditional personal computers (desktops, laptops, and workstations) as well as tablets and 2-in-1 gadgets with detachable keyboards.

This year, as reported, in connection with the transition of company employees to remote work, and students and schoolchildren for distance learning, there was a surge in demand for computer equipment. As a result, by the end of 2020, shipments of PCD devices will rise by 3.3% compared to last year, reaching 425.7 million pieces.
