Specialists of the analytical company IDC have prepared a forecast related to the market of smart home devices. In their opinion, this market will grow steadily in the coming years.
The market for smart home devices will grow steadily in the coming years
In 2020, 801.5 million smart home devices were shipped. This is 4.5% more than in 2019. Analysts estimate that shipments will reach 1.428 billion units in 2025. Average annual growth from 2020 to 2025 is expected to be 12.2%.
The largest segment will remain the Video Entertainment segment, which includes smart TVs, players and other network-connected video devices. However, during the period covered by the forecast, its size will decrease from 37.0% to 27.6%, as the growth of supplies in this segment will lag behind the growth of the market as a whole, amounting to only 5.8% per year.
The segment of home video surveillance and security systems over the same period will grow 20.5% to 21.2%, and the segment of smart speakers will decline from 16.3% to 14.4%. The share of devices in all other categories will increase from 26.2% to 36.9%. This means that the equipment of a smart home will become more and more diverse over the years.
