The Medium horror denied an Australian age rating – reasons unknown

The Australian division of the drew attention to the fact that the local rating organization, for one reason or another, refused to classify the horror The Medium from the Polish Bloober Team.

According to the information on the official website of the Australian Attestation Commission, The Medium has been awarded the status of “Denied classification.” Products bearing this mark may not be sold in Australia.

A Kotaku journalist found out from the commission that in the case of The Medium, the application was submitted remotely through the IARC system: when compiling the online form, the Bloober Team could well have made a mistake, which would have led to the result described above.

If the problem lies in the content being filled by The Medium, the developers for the release in Australia will have to give up their creative principles and remove inappropriate elements from the game.

At the same time, the studio is aware of the situation and is working to resolve it. It is also worth noting that the application for the classification of The Medium was filed back in early July, while at the moment there is just over a month before the release.

However, even if The Medium is waiting for a refusal to issue a rating, this is not a sentence. Thanks to Xbox Game Pass, Australian residents, for example, were able to check out Crusader Kings III, which was originally banned in the country.

The Medium will be released on December 10 this year on PC (Steam, Windows 10), Xbox Series X, and S. On launch day, the game will also become part of the library of the already mentioned Xbox Game Pass service.
