Hyundai has unveiled the new Sonata N Line for the US market. The novelty turned out to be more powerful than its predecessor: a 2.5-liter turbo engine with 294 horsepower is installed under the hood. Prices start at 33.2 thousand dollars (2.5 million rubles at the current exchange rate).
Externally, the “charged” Sonata N Line differs from the standard model with 19-inch wheels, enlarged front air intakes, a sports body kit, and a massive diffuser with a pair of twin exhaust pipes. In the cabin, there are seats with developed lateral support, and on the center console, there is a selector for selecting the driving modes, including the Sport + option. Launch Control is also provided.
The changes also affected the technical part. The Sonata N Line features original shock absorbers, stiffer rear springs, and larger anti-roll bars.
The 2.5-liter SmartStream turbo engine develops 294 horsepower and 422 Nm of torque. For comparison, the previous Sonata N Line was fitted with a 2.0 turbo-four, which produced 245 forces and 353 Nm of torque. Hyundai has not yet revealed the model’s dynamics, but it can be assumed that from zero to 60 mph (97 kilometers per hour), it accelerates in about 5.8 seconds, like a Kia K5 with a similar engine.
The engine is paired with an eight-speed “robot” N DCT with two wet clutches, already familiar from the Veloster N and i30 N. The drive is the only front.
In the US, the novelty is already available for order, and the timing of the appearance of the model in other markets has not yet been announced. In Russia, a standard Sonata is sold, which is equipped with a two-liter engine with a capacity of 150 horsepower or a 2.5 MPI unit that develops 180 horsepower. The starting price is 1.5 million rubles.
