It is more than 30 horsepower more powerful than the Lada Vesta Sportline
AvtoVAZ presented the new Niva for rally raids – this is the third generation of the SUV. The SUV was created to participate in the Silk Way rally raid in 2024, but will have time to compete in 2023 – the new Niva T2 will take part in the Russian rally raid championship in the Volgograd and Astrakhan regions.
The peculiarity of a T2 category vehicle is that it is built based on serial vehicles, and global modifications are prohibited. However, the car received a completely new 1.8-liter engine producing 150 hp. That is, it is 5 hp. more powerful than the engine of the previous Lada Sport and by 32 hp. more powerful than the engine of the current Lada Vesta Sportline. The new engine was also provided with a new exhaust system, a direct-flow exhaust with pipes located on the side.
Maximum torque is achieved around 2000 rpm – much earlier than the previous 1.6-liter engine. This is very important for rally raids, where speed limits and piloting have their specifics.

The Niva Sport T2 was equipped with domestic shock absorbers and front brake discs of larger diameter, but the rear brakes remained the same.
New bumpers made it possible to increase geometric cross-country ability, the fuel tank volume was 182 liters. They also made the car a little lighter.
