Ivan Espinosa, Nissan’s senior vice president of global product strategy and planning, told CarExpert that the new Armada will not be worse than the Land Cruiser. And we are not talking about the “small” Prado but about the Land Cruiser 300. “ To be honest, it depends on what you compare it with. In the US we will have a lot of competition, so it all depends on the market. And I’ll say the most obvious, although I don’t like to say it. The Toyota Land Cruiser [300 Series] is a [competitor], and our car is much better than the Land Cruiser. You ride it and we can discuss,” said Ivan Espinosa. SUVs have many qualities, and they are compared in many ways, but a top Nissan executive believes that the Armada will be better in a global sense than the Land Cruiser 300. Considering when the new generation of Toyota SUV came out, Nissan will have at least three years to surpass the LC300 .

Little is known about the new Armada yet. Only the engine has been confirmed so far: instead of a large, thirsty naturally aspirated petrol V8 with 400 hp. a turbocharged V6 with 424 hp will appear. The Armada will not have the diesel engine that the Land Cruiser 300 has: heavy fuel SUVs are unpopular in the target markets.
