This is a breakthrough for OnePlus, but OnePlus 12 will not be the world’s first smartphone with Sony LYT-808
OnePlus has officially declassified the sensor used as the main one in the main camera of the OnePlus 12 smartphone. This is Sony LYT-808.
The company succinctly characterizes it as “perhaps the most powerful flagship sensor, second only to Sony’s inch sensor.” True, there is a nuance. Sony already has two inch sensors for smartphones: the IMX989 and its improved version called the LYT900.
The OnePlus 12 camera will fit the Sony LYT-808
The resolution of the LYT-808 is 50 megapixels, the optical format is 1/1.4 inches. Interestingly, OnePlus 12 will not be the first smartphone in the world with such a sensor: the OPPO Find N3 previously received this sensor.
In addition to the module with the advanced LYT-808 and wide-angle lens, the OnePlus 12 camera will also have a periscope module with a 64-megapixel OmniVision OV64B sensor in 1/2-inch optical format and a lens with 70 mm EGF (that is, it will provide 3x optical zoom).
