The company will not stop at Huawei P40 Pro + with 10x optical zoom

Huawei continues to work on methods to improve the quality of shooting in the cameras of smartphones. The next patent, obtained by the European Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO, European Union Intellectual Property Office) describes the use of interchangeable optics for a smartphone.

The periscope is no longer fashionable. Huawei has patented a smartphone with interchangeable lenses

Huawei now has a flagship Huawei P40 Pro + with a 10x optical zoom. Such parameters are achieved using the periscope module of the main camera. At the same time, Huawei P40 Pro steadily ranks first in the DxOMark rating, and Huawei P40 Pro + has not yet been tested by specialists in this laboratory.

However, with all its advantages, periscope modules also have disadvantages. Huawei has found a way around them in a new patent. It describes a smartphone with a triple main camera, where two sensors are relatively small, and a third larger sensor can be used with interchangeable lenses.

Note that Motorola has already tried to implement such development using Moto Mods, but has not succeeded. As is usually the case with patents, it is now impossible to say with confidence whether the project will be brought to the commercial stage and whether its implementation will appear on store shelves.
