Windows 10 May 2020 Update turned out to be incompatible with F.lux
Users continue to find more and more problems with the large Windows 10 May 2020 Update (version 2004) released in late May. This time, a problem was discovered that leads to strange artifacts when displaying the image – blue or green wavy lines that should not be visible.
The problems of the new version of Windows 10 continue. Strange green and blue wavy lines spoil the image
Users of the social news resource Reddit drew attention to the “phenomenon”. One of the users complained of the appearance of wavy lines on the second monitor in the system with the Windows 10 May 2020 Update installed. He was not alone in his suffering.
The Windows 10 May 2020 Update introduced support for WDDM 2.7 (Windows Display Driver Model) and improvements for working with multiple monitors. However, some, on the contrary, had more problems. Users complain about artifacts when displaying images, demonstrating the problem through animation and video.
According to the WindowsLatest resource, the problem boils down to the incompatibility of the update and F.lux, a popular program for regulating the color temperature of the monitor. F.lux developer Michael Herf confirmed that there was a problem with the artifacts that appeared:
We are tracking a problem that has been reported for HDMI displays (mainly TVs used as a second display), and which does not happen all the time. These are color artifacts, not wavy lines.
He also noted that in cases when there are many changes in video drivers, such problems occur and usually fix them quickly.
