Possibly only for the US market
Sales of PlayStation 5 game consoles have not been constrained by a shortage for some time, and the console is gaining momentum. According to recent data from Circana, the PS5 surpassed the PS4 in terms of sales, but so far only by 5%.
At the same time, the pace of sales of the Xbox Series lags behind the Xbox One by 10%, and this despite the presence of the budget Series S in the line, which was generally relatively affordable even in times of shortage.
The PS5 outperforms the PS3 by 87%, while the Xbox Series outperforms the Xbox 360 by only 6%
There is also a comparison of the PlayStation 5 with the PlayStation 3. Here the novelty is ahead of its progenitor by an impressive 87%, although such a comparison only makes sense from the point of view of curiosity. There is a similar comparison for the Xbox: Series S is 6% ahead of the Xbox 360.
Analysts also predict that the PlayStation 5 will remain the leader in the game console market until at least 2025. It should be clarified that the source’s report is generally about the US, but when they talk about sales of set-top boxes, they do not indicate whether they are talking about global sales or just the US market.
