The event was organized by the manufacturer
Bugatti is known for building hypercars that break the 400 km/h barrier. However, finding a place where you can accelerate the car to such a speed is not easy. Therefore, Bugatti decided to help the owners.
The company created the Bugatti 400 Drive project to help 18 selected Bugatti owners reach the top speeds for which its cars are renowned. The event took place in April at the Kennedy Space Center, in conjunction with Bugatti’s own aerodynamic testing. An extra-long runway (about 5 km) was available for testing, which used to be a shuttle landing site before NASA decommissioned the Space Shuttle in 2011.
The real owners of Bugatti dispersed their cars over 400 km / h
At about 400 km/h, or Mach 0.32, the car passes 1.25 football fields every second, while at full Chiron acceleration, the driver experiences over 1g of g-force.
The Chiron Super Sport accelerates from 0 to 300 km/h in just 11 seconds. After breaking the 400 km/h barrier, each racer was given a personal racing suit as a memento, along with a helmet on which the maximum speed reached on the runway was inscribed.
The problem with many hypercars is that they are rarely used for their intended purpose. Many manufacturers go to great lengths to allow owners to do this by hosting track days and other events.
