The long-awaited successor to Poco F1 is indeed in development
The first smartphone Poco, a division of Xiaomi, was the Poco F1 or Pocophone F1, released in 2018. With the exception of the NFC module, the smartphone offered users almost flagship characteristics and became a real bestseller and the most popular smartphone of the brand.
The real successor to Poco F1 is officially confirmed
Over the past couple of years, Poco has mainly been rebranding other devices from the Xiaomi and Redmi range. The exception is the recently released Poco X3. According to Anuj Sharma, Poco’s Regional Director for India, the Poco F2 Pro was not a true successor to the Poco F1, so this model was not released to the Indian market.
However, he also confirmed that the long-awaited full-fledged successor to the Poco F1 is indeed in development, but should not be released in the coming months. Poco F2 is expected to be unveiled next year as Poco tries not to overflow its lineup with models that can confuse consumers.
Sharma added that Poco still offers the best versions of Redmi phones that give users more options. During the interview, he also explained why Poco cannot release only original models and added that Poco has no plans to stop using MIUI.
