Director Moritz Mohr’s dystopian action thriller “Boy Kills World,” starring Bill Skarsgård (It) and Jessica Rothe (Happy Death Day), still awaits an official release date. However, a mysterious “Cannes trailer” for the film has surfaced online, offering a glimpse into its intriguing and intense world.

The movie has been given an R-rating due to its strong bloody violence, gore, language, some drug use, and sexual references – elements that can be seen in the Cannes trailer.

Produced by the renowned Sam Raimi, “Boy Kills World” was written by Arend Remmers (Sløborn) and Tyler Burton Smith (Kung Fury: The Movie). The story unfolds in a peculiar and dark dystopian universe, centered around a deaf and mute character named Boy (Skarsgård). He navigates through this bleak world with his vivid imagination. Tragedy strikes when Boy’s family is brutally murdered, prompting him to embark on a perilous journey into the dark forested jungle. There, he encounters a shaman (Yayan Ruhian) who becomes his mentor, guiding him towards a cutthroat coming-of-age journey where Boy must embrace his skills as a highly trained assassin.

The talented cast includes Yayan Ruhian (The Raid: Redemption), Andrew Koji (Warrior), Isaiah Mustafa (It: Chapter Two), Famke Janssen (The Faculty), Brett Gelman (Stranger Things), Sharlto Copley (District 9), Quinn Copeland (Punky Brewster), twin brothers Cameron and Nicholas Crovetti (Big Little Lies), and Michelle Dockery (Downton Abbey). Dockery portrays Melanie, the sister of the Van der Koy family, who strives to project a powerful and cohesive image to conceal the desperation within their decaying dynasty. Famke Janssen, Brett Gelman, and Sharlto Copley also play antagonistic members of the Van Der Koy family – with Janssen as matriarch Hilda, and Gelman and Copley as Gideon and Glen, respectively.
