Microsoft needs to improve the device
Microsoft will not receive $400 million in a contract to supply customized HoloLens headsets to the US military.
At the next meeting, Congress blocked the investigation, although it did not completely cancel it. Now, instead of the $400 million that would have gone into buying 6,900 headsets (nearly $58,000 per headset), Microsoft will get $40 million to improve the current device. Recall that it recently became known that US soldiers do not like headsets for many reasons at once .
That is, Microsoft did not lose a contract for a huge amount, but will receive this money only when it finalizes its product to a level that satisfies the US Army.
Initially, the company received a contract worth $480 million back in 2018. In 2021, the agreement was expanded, implying the possibility of a deal worth almost $22 billion in the future. However, so far the US Army is not ready to use the devices in their current form.
