The company plans to return the plane to regular flights
On September 12, a serious air accident occurred in Russia: an Airbus A320 of Ural Airlines, heading from Sochi to Omsk, landed on a field, 180 km short of Novosibirsk. For any large passenger airliner (and there were more than 160 people on board the A320), such a landing is extreme, but, as it turns out now, the plane did not suffer serious damage.
The Ural Airlines Airbus A320 that landed in a field was not seriously damaged
“ According to the preliminary technical assessment of specialists, the aircraft is in good condition. The plane has no serious damage and will most likely be able to fly in the future. During the landing process, a small amount of soil got into one of the engines, several engine fan blades were slightly damaged, and the front landing gear was deployed. The cause of the malfunction of one of the hydraulic systems was identified and eliminated,” said Ural Airlines. Meanwhile, the emergency landing was caused precisely by the failure of one of the hydraulic systems – the green one.
Despite minimal damage, the Airbus A320 remains in the field for now – and will remain there for several more months. During this time, damaged engine components will be replaced.
In the current situation of a large shortage of aircraft in Russia, the retirement of even one unit is an extremely unpleasant situation for an air carrier. And it’s very good that Airbus makes strong airplanes that can take to the skies again after such an incident.
