Its power can reach 5.4MW
ZeroAvia has announced that it is working with Alaska Airlines to develop the world’s largest zero-emission aircraft.
The companies presented the Bombardier Q400 turboprop aircraft, which will be equipped with a hydrogen-electric power plant. Apparently, when the device is ready, it will be the largest aircraft of this type put into operation. The Bombardier Q400 is designed to carry 76 passengers.
The world’s largest zero-emission aircraft.
The aircraft will be endowed with a revolutionary, as ZeroAvia itself calls it, a modular electric motor system with a capacity of several megawatts. The prototype demonstrated by the company was characterized by a capacity of 1.8 MW. In general, the modular technology allows increasing the power up to 5.4 MW. At the moment, the company believes that it can finish work on the aircraft as early as next year.
The company is now aiming for commercial flights of 9-19-seat electric aircraft with a range of 480 km by 2025. By 2027, the plans include 40-80-seat aircraft with a flight range of up to 1200 km.
