Xiaomi continues to fuel interest in its foldable flagship
The head of Xiaomi, Lei Jun, continues to reveal the secrets of the latest folding flagship Xiaomi Mix Fold 3. This time, he spoke about the main screen and its strength, as well as the fold.
According to a top manager, all foldable smartphones that use a waterdrop hinge have a common flaw: the hinge is in “linear contact” with the screen. This means that when hit or dropped, the hinges make hard contact with the screen, and the latter is damaged. In Xiaomi Mix Fold 3, the hinge has a new design, consisting of 14 movable joints: “line contact” has changed to “surface contact”, which has increased the screen’s resistance to damage during smartphone falls.
the Xiaomi Mix Fold 3 screen crease increases by only 10 microns
The Xiaomi Mix Fold 3 display was diligently tested in the laboratory, and it turned out that even after 200 thousand folding and unfolding cycles, the crease on the screen increases by only 10 microns. Considering that 200,000 folding/unfolding cycles are hardly achievable under real-world conditions, we can say that the fold will not increase during the entire life of the smartphone.
Recall that the official premiere of Xiaomi Mix Fold 3 will take place on August 14. It has already been confirmed that the device will receive a screen with a diagonal of 8.03 inches, a resolution of 2K and a brightness of 2600 cd / sq.m, SoC Snapdragon 8 Gen 2, stereo speakers, support for wireless charging with a power of 50W and a Leica camera with modules that provide 3.2x zoom and 5x.
