“There is still a lot of work ahead”: Larian CEO spoke about the pace of production of Baldur’s Gate 3 and the exit from Early Access
Larian Studios CEO Swen Vincke recently spoke to Destructoid about the development process for Baldur’s Gate 3 and shared his thoughts on ending Early Access.
Recall that the pre-release version of Baldur’s Gate 3 went on sale on October 6, 2020, and since then has received four major updates, including a content patch with the druid class.
“I know the community wants us to move faster than we actually can. It takes time to integrate things, especially in the swing game Baldur’s Gate 3. Moreover, development continues, so we need to balance between these two sides, “ – said Vinke.
According to Vincke, Larian Studios takes a very conservative approach when introducing new content into Baldur’s Gate 3 Early Access: developers don’t want users to burn out.
The final section of Baldur’s Gate 3 is not yet ready, but otherwise, it probably would not have made it into the pre-release version. The team uses Early Access to collect feedback on systems that are available throughout the game.
“There is still a lot of work ahead, but we know what kind of game we are doing and where we are going. We’ll understand when we get to the end, so [the ending] is insight. There is just a lot of work to do, ”concluded Vincke.
Baldur’s Gate 3 has only been released on PC (Steam, GOG) and Google Stadia. It was reported that the game would be in Early Access for at least 12 months – that is, at least until October of this year.
