The price of the flying car will be $300,000
The Alef Aeronautics flying car received a special airworthiness certificate from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). This means that the company is allowed to carry out road and air tests of the car.
“We are thrilled to receive this certification from the FAA,” Alef CEO Jim Duchovny, who co-founded the company in 2015, said in a statement.
Duchovny and co-founders Konstantin Kisly, Pavel Markin and Oleg Petrov were inspired by Back to the Future II, which takes Marty McFly back to 2015. Then the development of the machine started.
They were inspired by the movie “Back to the Future” and created a real flying car
A fully electric car will be able to travel up to 320 km without recharging. It fits in a regular garage, but can also take off vertically and fly up to 180 km. There will also be a hydrogen-powered version. Alef Aeronautics advertises the car’s ability to avoid traffic jams, fly in any direction while still providing a panoramic view.
Buyers can pre-order the car for up to two people, which is expected to cost around $300,000. Alef Aeronautics unveiled the car last October. The company said it had already received “a large number of pre-orders”.
