“They will make the players happy”: CDPR talks about microtransactions in Cyberpunk 2077 multiplayer

In a recent conversation with investors, CD Projekt RED answered a question about microtransactions in Cyberpunk 2077 multiplayer, which is due out after the release of the single part of the project. The studio has confirmed their presence in the game but also stated that monetization will not be aggressive. According to the company, purchases in multiplayer mode “will make users happy

CD Projekt RED President Adam Kicinski commented on microtransactions. He said, “Well, we never tried to be aggressive towards the fans. We are fair and friendly to them. So of course not – the company won’t aggressively [push monetization] – but you [investors] can expect great items to buy [in multiplayer]. I’m not trying to be cynical or hiding anything: these [in-game acquisitions] only create a sense of value

“Just like with our singles, ” Kicinsky continued, “we want users to be happy to spend money on CDPR products. This is also true of microtransactions: they will of course appear, and Cyberpunk is a great setting for their implementation, but we are not talking about aggressive monetization. Internal purchases will not upset the players, but, on the contrary, will make them happy. This is our goal

Cyberpunk 2077 will be released on November 19, 2020, on PC, PS4, Xbox One, and GeForce Now. The project will also hit next-gen consoles and Google Stadia. Recently, the developers confirmed that they no longer plan to postpone the release date.
