UAC announced preparations for the first flight
The United Aircraft Corporation (UAC) showed an official photo of the modification of the Il-96 aircraft with an extended fuselage, Il-96-400M. The aircraft was rolled out to the airfield of the Voronezh Aviation Plant.
The United Aircraft Corporation announced preparations for the first flight of the Il-96-400M, which was postponed several times. In January 2021, Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Oleg Bocharov, who oversees aviation, said that the first flight of the updated airliner would take place in 2022.

The new date for the first flight of the Il-96-400M is now not disclosed, while the aircraft is not included in the comprehensive program for the development of the Russian air transport industry. This document was approved by Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Mikhail Mishustin in June 2022. At the same time, deliveries of 12 Il-96-300 aircraft are envisaged from 2025.
The United Aircraft Corporation confirms that the Il-96-400M is equipped with modern Russian avionics, including a new avionics system and other systems and components.
“The lengthened fuselage makes the aircraft more spacious and attractive to operators,” the UAC press service said.
