With more cores
More and more information about the upcoming Intel Raptor Lake Refresh processors, which should be released in October, appears on the Web.
A fresh batch of rumors reveals core configurations for different models of the new line.
As you can see, the top Core i9-14900K will get 8 large and 16 small cores, just like the Core i9-13900K. Given the identical architecture and supposedly a 200 MHz frequency difference , there’s not much performance gain to be expected.
But with more affordable models, everything will be better. The Core i7-14700/K/F will be able to offer 8 large and 12 small cores, while the Core i7-13700K has only 8 small cores. The first tests have already shown that the new product will be much faster than its predecessor, which means that the gap between the Core i9 -14900K and Core i7-14700K will be less than the current generation between similar models.
This is not the old Intel with a 5% increase in the performance of new processors per year.
The Core i5-14600/K/F will be configured like the Core i7-13700K, that is, 8 large and small cores each. This is 2 large cores more than the Core i5-13600K.
The Core i5-14500 and Core i5-14400 will get a 6+8 configuration like the Core i5-13600K. The Core i3-14100 and Core i3-14300 will have only 6 large cores each, while their predecessors in both the 13th and 12th generation Core had only 4 large cores.
Thus, the entire line will significantly increase, except for the flagship and the Core i5-14500. If at the same time Intel keeps prices at the same level, it will be very good for buyers.
