It will be presented in February 2024
BMW still believes there is enough demand for station wagons, so the company is preparing to launch the development of the 2024 BMW 5 Series Touring. The new BMW long-roof car, codenamed G61, will be unveiled in early 2024 and go on sale later that year. The Munich-based automaker predicts Europe will be the model’s main market, but adds that the spacious family car will also be sold in Japan and Taiwan.

BMW has released a new profile image of the car, which confirms that the rear light pattern will be reminiscent of that of the BMW 3 Series Touring. BMW intends to sell the new large estate with the same powertrains as the 5 Series sedan (G60), so buyers will be offered a variety of petrol, diesel, plug-in hybrid, and electric options.
The flagship M5 will receive the M division’s new S68 8-cylinder engine. This is a 4.4-liter twin-turbocharged engine that will be paired with an electric motor in the same way as the XM’s powertrain.
Since all versions of the 5 Series Touring will be built on the CLAR platform, there will be few design differences between the ICE and electrified versions. These cars will look almost identical inside and out, except the M5 as it will have wider fenders, quad exhaust pipes, and other details.
The world premiere will take place in February 2024.
