Recently, more and more information has been coming from Beijing about the Xiaomi plant. Latest reports claimed that the plant began trial operations in August and is currently producing 50 cars every week.
It also became known that the company has begun recruiting personnel for the plant in preparation for the mass production stage. Large-scale recruitment will begin at the end of the year or early next year when mass production is expected.
Apart from manpower, the plant requires two manufacturing licenses from the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) and the National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC). MIIT’s approval is expected no later than the end of the year. At the same time, Xiaomi is rumored to have already received a license from the National Development and Reform Commission.
Earlier today it was reported that the Modena sedan, which will compete with the Tesla Model 3, BYD Seal, Deepal SL03, and many other cars, will receive a 1.5-liter hybrid engine.
