Tim Cook said Apple now sells more computers with proprietary M1 processors than Intel
According to Apple CEO Tim Cook (Tim Cook), the company sells more Macs with branded ARM chips than models based on Intel processors. Apple released its first computers with M1 chips in November, and yesterday it announced the iMac all-in-one based on the new processor.
Cook mentioned the high popularity of Apple computers with ARM chipsets at yesterday’s “Full Bloom” event, during which the new M1-based iMac was unveiled. The same processor served as the basis for the new iPad Pro family, which was also presented yesterday. Cook stated that the Apple M1 is a real breakthrough and that Macs are the industry’s best in customer satisfaction.
Recall that during WWDC 2020, Apple announced that it would completely abandon Intel processors in favor of branded ARM chips within two years. Including the new iMac unveiled yesterday, Apple’s lineup now includes four computer models based on its own chipset. Along with them, the company continues to sell 16- and 13-inch MacBook Pros, 21.5- and 27-inch iMacs, and Intel-based Mac Pro workstations.
Strong sales of ARM computers will likely be a key point the Apple CEO will focus on during Apple’s upcoming earnings conference on April 28.
