Kia has one pickup, the Santa Cruz. But this model, built on the platform of the Tucson monocoque crossover, can only be considered a pickup truck in name. However, the Korean company is already working on a full-fledged pickup truck – it will be released in 2025 and will compete with such class giants as the Toyota Hilux and Ford Ranger.
Toyota Hilux will have a competitor from Kia.
” Kia is currently developing a future pickup truck model that will be highly functional and suitable for this purpose ,” a spokesman for Kia Australia said today. For the first time, work on this model is officially confirmed.
The car is now codenamed TK, it has even managed to light up in a spy photo. Kia’s first full-frame pickup looks set to look like the Mohave SUV. It will receive a ladder-type frame and several power plants: for Australia – a diesel engine, for the USA – an electric car or a hybrid.
