Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co (TSMC), the largest semiconductor contract manufacturer, is still in talks with the US government about subsidies for its new Arizona factory. This was reported by Reuters, citing the words of the chairman of the company, Mark Liu (Mark Liu).

“We hope that the federal government and state leadership will be able to compensate TSMC for the difference in operating costs between the US and Taiwan,” Liu said.

The new production will not have business directly with the military, but some of its customers may be suppliers to the military, he added.

TSMC announced its intention to build a factory in Arizona, where it is planned to master the production of products at technological standards of 5 nm by 2024, in mid-May.
