TSMC, the world’s largest semiconductor contract manufacturer, has published a report for the first quarter of 2020.
TSMC revenue grew 45.2% over the year, net profit almost doubled
Consolidated revenue for the reporting period reached $ 10.31 billion. Compared to the first quarter of last year, this indicator increased by 45.2%, although, compared with the fourth quarter of 2019, it decreased by 0.8%. We clarify that these calculations reflect the change in the exchange rate. In settlements in the local currency, the annual revenue growth is 42.0%, and the decrease compared to the fourth quarter of 2019 is 2.1%. Net profit growth for the year was 90.6%, and for the quarter – 0.8%. Gross profit for the quarter was 51.8%.
The drafters of the report note that in the first quarter of 2020, supplies of 7-nanometer products accounted for 35% of total revenue, 10-nanometer products – 0.5%, and 16-nanometer products – 19%. In total, “advanced technologies,” which include the 16-nanometer and more modern technological processes in TSMC, brought 55% of the revenue.
