Unexpected Bounty: Rockstar Made All Max Payne 3 and LA Noire DLCs Free
Rockstar Games temporarily disappeared from Steam yesterday, and Midnight Club 2, which the company long ago stopped selling in a digital version for PC, returned to the store for several hours. As it turned out, some of these oddities were due to the release of updates. After fresh patches, all add-ons for Max Payne 3 and LA Noire are now free.
According to the patch notes, Max Payne 3 and LA Noire no longer support 32-bit operating systems, and add-ons previously sold separately are now included in the main games.
For Max Payne 3, only multiplayer DLCs have been released. The first three of them (Local Justice, Hostage Negotiation, and Painful Memories) added new maps, weapons, items, “cosmetics,” and achievements (the first is also a multiplayer faction). The fourth, Deathmatch Made in Heaven, brought four modes (Dead Men Walking, Run, and Stun, Marked Man, and Time Attack), as well as a single-player minigame, weapons, and items. The rest of the DLCs are smaller and contain pre-order content.
Major additions to LA Noire offer five new cases: two murders (The Naked City and Reefer Madness), two transport (A Slip of the Tongue and The Consul’s Car), and one arson (Nicholson Electroplating). Other DLCs are also bonus content for early purchases (costumes, weapons, and challenges). Rockstar drew users’ attention to the fact that the update did not affect LA Noire: The VR Case Files. The VR version is different from the original – not all investigations are included in it.
Based on user feedback, patches can cause problems. Someone lost their saves in LA Noire after the update; others have problems launching both games. There were also difficulties with using fan mods for detective action, including removing the frame rate limitation and adding support for ultra-wide monitors.
LA Noire was released in May 2011 on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 and appeared on PC in November of the same year. In November 2017, the game was released on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One. In February 2012, it reported 5 million copies sold. Max Payne 3 was released in May 2012 on PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and PC. In the first year, about 4 million units of action were sold.
This month, insider Tom Henderson revealed the timing of the events in Grand Theft Auto VI. Earlier, the same informant said that the overwhelming majority of rumors about a new game are based on incorrect information.
