United Arab Emirates successfully launched its own mission to Mars

As expected, today, at 0:58 Moscow time, the Nadezhda mission was launched from the Tanegashima Space Center on the Mitsubishi Heavy Industries H-IIA launch vehicle. The United Arab Emirates spacecraft detached from the rocket about an hour after launch, and its solar panels are expected to be used to support a seven-month flight to Mars.

Years of hard work and dedication have paid off, ” UAE Ambassador to the United States Yousef Al Otaiba said shortly after the launch during the broadcast. – This is a huge achievement, but it is only just beginning. It is difficult to find words, but, to be honest, watching this successful take-off, knowing how hard, how difficult it was to achieve it, I felt great pride. I think that every emirate on the planet should be proud of what his country has achieved today. ”

The launch was originally scheduled for July 14 but was postponed several times due to bad weather conditions at the take-off site. The $ 200 million Hope Mission, also called the Emirates Mars Mission, is the UAE’s first step in interplanetary exploration, and it is timed to coincide with the 50th anniversary of the creation of that state.

In particular, the authors of the mission wanted to create a project that would initiate the development of the technological and scientific director of the UAE’s development, since the state is looking for an economic model that can ensure its development without relying on the production and sale of hydrocarbons.
