Vicarious Visions has become part of Blizzard and will no longer have its own games

Vicarious Visions has become part of Blizzard and will no longer have its own games

Activision Blizzard has announced that Vicarious Visions has been acquired by Blizzard Entertainment. Going forward, the team behind Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1 + 2 and Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy will no longer make games as lead developer. Employees will simply become part of Blizzard.

Vicarious Visions

Activision Blizzard said in a statement that the Vicarious Visions team of approximately 200 people will be fully committed to supporting Blizzard Entertainment’s existing and future games.

“After working with Vicarious Visions and establishing a good relationship, Blizzard realized that [Vicarious Visions] had the opportunity to provide long-term support,” an Activision Blizzard spokesman explained. He declined to elaborate on what the team has been working with Blizzard Entertainment on and for how long.

As part of the merger, Vicarious Visions head Jen Oneal was promoted to executive vice president of development at Blizzard Entertainment. She will now report directly to the president of the company J. Allen Brack (J. Allen Brack). Simon Ebejer, former COO of the studio, will replace Onil as head of the Vicarious Visions team.

Vicarious Visions was acquired by Activision Blizzard in 2005 and has since worked on many of the publisher’s major franchises, including Guitar Hero, Spider-Man, Tony Hawk, Crash Bandicoot, Destiny, Skylanders, and Call of Duty.
