Video: an enthusiast showed progress in adapting Half-Life: Alyx for normal control on a PC without VR
In May last year, an enthusiast under the pseudonym Konqithekonqueror untied Half-Life: Alyx from VR and added weapons and missing animations from Half-Life 2 to the game. True, they took a more difficult path – they tried to adapt the project to standard control using the keyboard and mouse with minimal changes to the gameplay.
In a recent video, enthusiasts showcased progress in creating their creations. They published a 9-minute segment of the Half-Life: Alyx walkthrough, where the main character Alyx fights enemies and explores the world. Enthusiasts have worked on the first-person view, bringing it closer to what is used in conventional shooters (not VR); changed several animations, such as reloading and using stairs; and implementing the ability to jump and move freely using the keys on the keyboard.
The authors call their modification simply No Vr. Exactly when it is released is currently unknown. Recall Half-Life: Alyx was released on March 23, 2020, on VR headsets with SteamVR support.
