Video: Fast downloads and tweaked lighting in new PS4 vs PS5 Final Fantasy VII remake comparison

Spanish blogger ElAnalistaDeBits posted a video on his YouTube channel comparing the visual and technical components of the versions of the first episode of the Final Fantasy VII remake for PS4 and PS5.

Recall that in the trailer for the PS5 edition features of the updated Final Fantasy VII from the recent State of Play release, there was already a comparison of the game on both platforms, but ElAnalistaDeBits considered it insufficient.

In particular, the blogger has isolated footage of the Final Fantasy VII remake’s main story campaign not only from the mentioned video but also from the announcement teaser of Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade – an improved and expanded version of the game for PS5.

As you can see in the ElAnalistaDeBits video, the project did not significantly increase the quality of objects when switching to PS5: the difference is achieved mainly due to the redesigned lighting.

Besides, in his video, the enthusiast highlighted the technical superiority of the PS5 over the PS4. On the previous generation Sony console, the Final Fantasy VII remake level takes more than half a minute to load, and on the new console, just a couple of seconds are enough for this.

In addition to lighting changes and faster downloads, the first episode of the Final Fantasy VII remake on PS5 will offer two modes of operation – quality (4K) and performance (60fps) – photo mode and partial support for DualSense.

The PS5 version of the Final Fantasy VII remake will go on sale on June 10 this year. The game comes with an additional episode that PS4 game owners will have to purchase separately.
