Video: Forza Horizon 4 Showcases Xbox Series X Ultra Graphics On PC

Microsoft launched its next-generation Xbox Series X and Series S consoles yesterday. On this occasion, a new trailer for the popular Forza Horizon 4 arcade racing game was presented. The video is dedicated to the improvements that the game has received on new systems.

Microsoft promises similar graphics to the Ultra settings on gaming PCs on Xbox Series X. This is a higher level of detail for cars and the world at long distances; sharper images with superior anisotropic filtering and improved quality for shadows, reflections, and particle effects.

What’s more, on Xbox Series X, the game now runs in native 4K resolution at 60fps, a first for the Forza Horizon series on consoles. The doubled frame rate delivers smoother, more responsive driving in the open-world virtual UK and faster in-game menus.

Microsoft did not forget to mention the extremely fast resumption of the game after turning off the console or when switching from another console application – all due to the high-speed solid-state drive and the Quick Resume function. The SSD also delivers dramatically reduced load times and fast travel to anywhere on the main map or to a game add-on – it only takes a matter of seconds (exactly how much we measured in our console review ).

Finally, support for Smart Delivery means that Forza Horizon 4 Xbox One owners do not have to buy a version optimized for the next generation of consoles – they will get it for free when they move to the next generation. Forza Horizon 4 was released on September 28, 2018, on PC and Xbox One. The races received positive reviews from critics and scored 92 points on Metacritic. Users also warmly welcomed the game (8.1 points out of 10).
