Video: gameplay trailer for the Roguebook card game from the author of MTG

The Gathering, the most popular collectible card game, was created by American mathematician Richard Garfield in 1993. Now he, together with the studio Abrakam Entertainment (the developers of Faeria), is preparing for the release of Rogue book – a roguelike with CCG elements, which Nacon publishes. Recently, a fresh video was released showing the main elements of the gameplay of this project.

In Roguebook, a team of two heroes will embark on a journey through the pages of a magical book from the universe of the turn-based card game Faeria, which has its own evil will. Here, each page is a new test. In tactical turn-based battles, the team will fight the legends of the Book of Rogues.

Each of the heroes available to choose from has a collection of over 50 cards, a personal relic, and a unique skill tree. At the same time, during the battle, you need to consider the heroes’ positions, create combinations of attacks, plan moves and use strategic thinking. More than 40 bosses and opponents promised.

In Exploration Mode, you can add cards to your deck and then upgrade them by adding gems or transforming them into new, even more, powerful cards. As the developers promise, Roguebook will offer a new philosophy for games that use the mechanics of the collection of cards: expanding the deck, players unlock unique talents and skills of the heroes, but in return, they will have to face greater unpredictability in handling a large deck.

Death means restarting the adventure, and each time the world is re-generated. Promised about 20 hours for one full playthrough. Moreover, the game provides 20 levels of difficulty – at each level, new relics, gems, and events are unlocked, but the enemies become stronger.

Those who pre-order the Roguebook on Steam (the base version is RUR 1190) will be able to immediately check out the Roguebook demo and earn bonus hero skins along the way. Roguebook will be released on June 24, 2021, on PC and will later make it to PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch.
