Underhive Wars

Rogue Factor Studios and Focus Home Interactive continue to reveal the tactical RPG Necromunda: Underhive Wars, which will release on September 8th. This time, the focus was on the environment. The variety of maps was demonstrated in a trailer posted on the Focus Home Community YouTube channel and in screenshots.

The release version will have 26 maps available in the story campaign, as well as the multiplayer modes Operations and Skirmish. Some will be cramped, designed for close-range battles, while others will be spacious, with a pronounced verticality and beautiful views. The developers have recreated many of the famous Underhive locations. Players will visit abandoned factories, a power plant, a reservoir, an underground railway, a chemical waste storage facility, an infirmary, and an arboretum.

In each location, you will have to use the features of the environment, including taking positions on elevations, setting traps, and setting up ambushes. Users will be able to move freely around the terrain – the maps here do not have a grid, as in many other tactical games.

Necromunda: Underhive Wars is the first video game adaptation of the Necromunda board game set in the Warhammer 40,000 universe and the second project by Montreal-based Rogue Factor studio that created Mordheim: City of the Damned. Tactical RPG events take place underneath the hive cities of Necromunda, in tunnels where gangs fight for power and wealth of their homes. There will be three houses to choose from – Escher, Goliath, and Orlock. Characters will be allowed to customize and develop. Previously, the publisher provided an overview trailer showing key features.

Games Workshop, which owns the rights to the Warhammer 40,000 and Warhammer Fantasy universes, continues to actively enter into agreements with various game studios. There are many projects in development based on these licenses, including Total War: Warhammer III from Creative Assembly, the co-op shooter Warhammer 40,000: Darktide from the authors of Warhammer: Vermintide, and RTS in the Age of Sigmar universe from the creators of Elite Dangerous.

Necromunda: Underhive Wars will be released on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One. On Steam,  pre-orders are accepted with a 20% discount (for RUB 1199.2). Partial translation into Russian (interface and subtitles) is announced.
