All because of the dispute with Nokia
According to the latest official news, Vivo has decided to temporarily stop selling smartphones in the German market.
Vivo fully respects intellectual property rights and is committed to continuous innovation through extensive research and development. In recent years, Vivo has signed cross-licensing agreements with many leading companies. We have been negotiating with Nokia to renew the mutual license, but so far no agreement has been reached. We firmly believe that Nokia has failed in its licensing obligation. We are disappointed by the decision of the District Court of First Instance Mannheim of April 6, 2023. We have appealed against these decisions and will consider other options. In the meantime, we are in close contact with Nokia to finalize licensing negotiations on fair and reasonable terms. Our long-term commitment to the German market remains unchanged.
Vivo obeyed and suspended the sale of smartphones in Germany
Back in July last year, the District Court of Mannheim in Germany ruled that Oppo had infringed on Nokia patents and issued a ban on the sale of Oppo smartphones and some OnePlus devices in Germany.
Earlier it became known that the official website of Oppo in Germany was completely cleared of mentioning any of the company’s products.
Recall that all three companies (Oppo, Vivo and OnePlus) are divisions of BBK Electronics.
